Fifth Consecutive Sales & Marketing Award Underscores Designer Interiors’
Alluring New Model Merchandising for Area Builders

Troy, Michigan – For the fifth year in a row, Designer Interiors by Mary Olk has been
honored with a Building Association of Southeast Michigan’s Sales & Marketing Award
for its unique ability to add essential sales appeal to new home models.

Designer’s Interiors work at Curtis Building Company’s Whitehall II model at the neotraditional Cherry Hill Village in Canton was honored with a Silver Award at the Sales & Marketing Council’s awards celebration held last month at St. John’s Golf & Conference
Center in Plymouth.

“This recognition is particularly gratifying given the outstanding competition in the
market, and the challenge we had at Cherry Hill to make this home stand out in a
development of multiple builders,” said Mary Olk, president and founder of Troy-based
Designer Interiors.

Whitehall II’s design/merchandising combines lush colors and functional, stylish furnishings. Sophisticated cabinetry complements jewel-colored kitchen accessories and
a family-sized breakfast nook, while inviting living room detailing entices potential
buyers to relax by the fire with their favorite book. Custom bedding and drapery conveys
a regal aura in the master suite, punctuating the homes appeal to move-up buyers.

“Designer Interiors created an ambiance that makes visitors to our model feel right at
home,” said Curtis Building Company’s Craig Menuck. “This vision plays an important
role in our overall sales campaign at Cherry Hill Village. ”

Designer Interiors’ long-term success in the market has pushed its annual production
volume from about 10 new models or community clubhouses a year a decade ago to more than 50 models in 2003. Other recent, high profile assignments have included the 2003 Homearama model for C.R. Miller Homes at Stratford in Washington Township, as well as a Moceri Companies’ show home at The Oaklands in Oakland Township, which
served as a featured attraction during an earlier Somerset Collection Home and Garden
Show.

In addition to working closely with its builder clients and their architects, Olk continually
studies new design trends by visiting malls and shopping centers to understand not only
emerging color or fabric preferences, but also to analyze consumer demographics. She
also travels regularly to shop national furnishing and accessories markets in New York,
Chicago and High Point, North Carolina. Designer Interiors stocks its favorite pieces at
its Troy warehouse, providing convenience and flexibility for its clients. It also
subcontracts services such as drapery or wallpaper installation to a pool of proven
vendors.

“We typically work under tight deadlines to meet our builders’ Grand Opening
schedules,” Olk said. “That means having the right people and materials in place and
ready to delivery quickly and with quality.”
